The FDA is adding a boxed warning on the prescribing information for the smoking-cessation drugs varenicline (Chantix, Pfizer) and bupropion (Zyban drug, GlaxoSmithKline) to highlight the risk of serious mental health events, such as behavioral changes, depressed mood, hostility, and suicidal thoughts.
