The Saudi Interior Ministry says authorities have beheaded two Nigerian men convicted of smuggling cocaine into the kingdom.
Mohammed Qodous and Idris Abdul-Ghani, were convicted of smuggling the drugs by swallowing sachets of cocaine. The Interior Ministry says the beheadings took place Sunday in the Red Sea coastal city of Jiddah.
Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which those convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape or armed robbery are executed in public with a sword. Read more

The Libyan officer tried to cloak the purpose of his call to the Italian arms dealer. 'A friend,' he said, wanted to buy 1 million 'pieces' and 50 million items of 'food.'
But when that phone call was placed in 2006, Italian police were listening. They knew the meaning. Libya was shopping for guns _ lots of them.
Authorities shadowed the negotiations between Libyan officials and a group of black-market dealers from across Italy for a year before they moved in and broke up what would have been a $64 million deal for hundreds of thousands of Chinese-made assault rifles. Read more

Six people have been charged in an apparent multi-city drug operation in the Twin Cities area.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says it may be the largest indoor marijuana growing operation in state history.
Federal authorities say they seized nearly 5,000 marijuana plants after searching eight homes in Brooklyn Park, Burnsville, Coon Rapids, Eagan, Inver Grove Heights, Lakeville and Maplewood. More than 2,300 of the plants were found in two Maplewood residences alone.
The Drug Enforcement Administration says authorities began investigating in January, after police learned that one of the suspects was allegedly growing marijuana in a Burnsville residence. Read more
